On Friday, Sky News broadcast a report on Google’s 10th Birthday (Happy birthday, guys!) Looking to the future of search, Sky interviewed Steve, our CEO, on how mobile search fits into the exciting times ahead.

You’ll find the Taptu segment on mobile search at the 4 minutes mark, but the whole report is interesting, covering the likes of Microsoft Live Search, Cuil and Powerset semantic search engine.

They’re all the same. Fan boy gets excited, unboxes new gadget in a poorly lit video, with oooh’s and aaah’s at every layer of paper peeled off. Give them half a chance and they’ll get excited over the owner manual!

However, in this case, I’m sure there’s something different about this Samsung Omnia unboxing, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.

Ok, you’ve figured it out too – it’s a viral created by the Samsung team to promote the new Omnia (i900). But all credit to them, they’ve got a good sense of humour.

While there are no groundbreaking announcements to make and no fuzzy spy pictures to share, I did get a video of a mad pet project (no pun intended!) of some Nokia team members.

The N800, a large touchscreen internet tablet, was released some eight months ago and this has to be my favourite use of it so far.

The robot dog is controlled via another N800 tablet and has a range of predefined actions it can do. Great fun!
