Finding Your UDID: Two Easy Ways

First, what’s a UDID?

If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, it has a Unique Device Identifier (UDID), which is a sequence of letters/numbers that is specific to your device. It’s like a serial number and will look something like this: 2b6f0cc904d137be2e1730235f5664094b831186.

Why do you need my UDID?

Since we’re giving you access to an unreleased version of the Taptu app, we need to register your UDID with Apple in order to grant your device permission to run our application.

How do I get my UDID?

There are two ways of doing it; one that requires you to download an application and one that requires being connected to iTunes. Both are very quick, however.

1. Using the Ad Hoc Helper application

Install Ad Hoc Helper. Launch the app to create an email containing your UDID. Email it to iphonebeta@taptu.com and you’re done!

2. Using iTunes

Plug your iPhone in as usual, and click on your iPhone’s name in the left sidebar. Where the Summary tab lists your phone’s information, click on the words “Serial Number” to reveal your Identifier. Click on the identifier (it won’t highlight) & copy it either via the Edit > Copy menu, or by using your Copy shortcut.

Open a new email and paste your 40-character long UDID in an email to iphonebeta@taptu.com. Shortly thereafter, we will send you both a certificate & the application for you to install on your phone.
